Whilst Emma is on maternity leave, I am left unchecked in my whims but I do know that as a fellow chicken nerd she would wholeheartedly approve of this idea - we’re going to be drawing chooks then imagining them into a counting book!
We’re going to start as all good ideas do, by spending a little time gathering observational drawings before having lots of fun designing some picturebook counting sequences. This really is a combination of two of my favourite things - chooks and novelty books!
Novelty Picturebooks offer up all sorts of opportunities for creative visual storytelling and it’s a great way to generate portfolio pieces and potential book concepts.
Chickens offer up everything you could want for a potential story character. They are charismatic, fun, colourful, diverse in shape and generally all round eggcellent creatures. If you’ve never drawn one before, prepare for your next obsession!
This session is open to paying subscribers of the Picturebook Studio. It’s easy to upgrade to join though then simply scroll down to find your session link. Sessions are small, friendly and welcoming - we’d love to draw with you too!
I really hope you're able to join me.
