This book is an absolute heartbreaker. It was gifted to me by a friend some 15 years ago and it’s been a book I return to over and over again.
Michael Rosen writes about the loss of his son, Eddie.
It’s sensitively supported with quiet and often powerful, impactful illustrations. The illustrations pair beautifully, communicating the facets of grief and how life moves on regardless.
Blakes understanding of human behaviour and powerful use of composition elevates the narrative. His use of materials marry with the unpredictability and unsteadiness of grief.
I hope you ‘feel’ this book like I do. It’s sad but important.
